The VDE Institute (Offenbach, Germany) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Freiburg, Germany) finalized a few days ago the testing program for achieving the “VDE Quality Tested” seal of quality for Talesun’s photovoltaic modules. The extended test program took place over several months. The successful passing of the testing program makes Talesun the first solar company in China to achieve VDE’s foremost seal representing the highest level of quality for photovoltaic modules.
Talesun is a Chinese solar manufacturing company based in Suzhou, China, and is one of the largest and fastest growing players in the global solar industry. The company is involved in the manufacture of photovoltaic modules and cells, and features a production capacity of 2 GW for its cell lines and another 2 GW for its module lines.
The VDE Institute has established the new “VDE Quality Tested“ seal for the solar market in order to increase the trust and confidence in the quality of solar components and systems, through a special new and innovative testing program. The “VDE Quality Tested” seal serves as a distinguishing mark that users (customers), investors, insurance firms and solar companies can rely on.
The process for acquiring the “VDE Quality Tested” seal features extended testing parameters, more stringent tolerances for product performance during testing, and extended regulation of the manufacturing process for the photovoltaic modules. This not only serves to ensure the safety of the solar products produced, but also minimizes the risk of product underperformance in the field on a sustainable long term level. The “VDE Quality Tested” testing parameters build upon existing testing parameters for IEC standards, as well as additional carefully selected tests to create a more stringent testing program.
“VDE has developed the new testing program for this highly valuable seal of quality in close cooperation with the solar industry, solar project investors, and our international network of partner laboratories. With this finely tuned and optimized product, we are able to precisely meet the needs for product testing and quality control, while avoiding unnecessary excess testing parameters and costs,” stated Wilfried Jaeger, Managing Director of the VDE Institute. “Our long term experience in the testing and certification business, as well as the careful analysis and evaluation of our accrued test data, have allowed the “VDE Quality Tested” seal to achieve international recognition as a premier seal in the certification industry,” concluded Mr. Jaeger.
Today, Talesun shall be awarded the “VDE Quality Tested” seal of quality at the start of the world’s largest photovoltaics exhibition, the SNEC PV Power Expo 2012. “We at Talesun have always focused from the very beginning of our business on the highest level of quality,” stated Baixing Wang, founder and Chairman of Talesun, during the awarding ceremony today in Shanghai. “By successfully achieving the “VDE Quality Tested” seal of quality, we have reached another important milestone in the execution of our quality policy and strategy. We will engage in more high level testing programs with the VDE Institute in order to enable us to continue to offer our stakeholders and clients the best level of trust, safety and sustainability for our products,” added Mr. Wang.
